KTM India has listed the 2022 RC 390 on its website ahead of its imminent launch. This new model from the Indian arm of the Austrian manufacturer is expected to follow the 2022 390 Adventure in our market. While we await a launch announcement, here we tell you what to expect from the India-bound 2022 KTM RC 390.
Updated Design
The 2022 KTM RC 390 gets a major styling revision over its predecessor. The updated design includes a new look to the front fascia that now features a single-pod LED headlight instead of twin-pod projector-style units on its predecessor. The MY22 RC 390 also features fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors, an updated turn indicator setup, and a sharper design for the fairing. Other upgrades include a 13.7-litre fuel tank, a redesigned tail section, and a side-slung exhaust.
Colours
Internationally, the 2022 KTM RC 390 is available in two colour options – KTM Electronic Orange and KTM Factory Racing Blue. The KTM Electronic Orange features a single-tone finish. The dual-tone version, in contrast, uses a combination of blue and orange colours.
Newer Features
Apart from the styling, KTM has also heavily revised the electronics on the MY2022 RC 390. The updated list includes switchable ABS, cornering ABS, and cornering traction control system as standard. The international-spec model gets the Quickshifter+ as an optional extra. However, we expect the India-spec model to get this feature as standard. The updated model also gets full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled colour-TFT display.
Hardware
The India-bound 2022 KTM RC 390 could pack slightly lower-spec hardware than the international version. The company offers the motorcycle with 43mm WP APEX split functionality, open cartridge forks that are adjustable for compression and rebound. The India-spec model, on the other hand, could receive non-adjustable units. The rear mono-shock will be adjustable for preload. The braking tasks would be handled by a 320mm single disc with a radially mounted four-piston-fixed ByBre calliper at the front and a 230mm disc brake with a single-piston fixed calliper at the rear.
Same Engine
The MY2022 RC 390 will retain the 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. However, it benefits from a new engine mapping and a redesigned airbox that is aimed to achieve a higher torque output than before. The power and torque output is rated at 42.9bhp and 37Nm, respectively. The six-speed gearbox will retain the slipper clutch mechanism.
Expected Price
KTM India has listed the price of the MY2022 RC 390 which is similar to the outgoing version’s Rs 2,77,635 (ex-showroom, Delhi) tag. The company had previously introduced the RC 200 at the same price tag as the old model as an introductory offer. We may see a similar strategy for the MY22 KTM RC 390 as well.
