- To be launched on 24 May, 2022
- Pre-bookings open since December 2021
- Prices expected to start from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom)
Triumph Motorcycle India has confirmed that it will launch the 2022 edition of its flagship adventure tourer, the Tiger 1200, on 24 May, 2022 in India. The company revealed this through its social media channels. Notably, the pre-bookings for the motorcycle had commenced back in December, 2021.
Triumph will launch four different variants of the motorcycle including two road-biased GT models and two off-road-centric Rally trims. While the former gets a 19-18-inch alloy wheel combination, the latter gets larger 21 and 18-inch spoke wheels along with longer travel suspension than GT trims. There are a few other differences too. Unlike the 20-litre fuel tank in the Rally Pro and GT variants, the Rally Explorer and GT Explorer iterations get a huge 30-litre tank. Moreover, the new edition of the Tiger 1200 is over 25kg lighter than its predecessor.
Talking about the engine, the new Tiger 1200 is propelled by a Euro5-compliant 1,160cc, inline three-cylinder engine that churns out 147bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 130Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a shaft drive system and its six-speed gearbox is accompanied by an assist and slipper clutch. Furthermore, the motorcycle gets top-shelf cycle parts like Showa suspension and Brembo brakes. All of this is complemented by enticing features like a Bluetooth-enabled seven-inch TFT screen, multiple riding modes, and traction control.
With its prices expected to start from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Triumph Tiger 1200 will go up against the Ducati Multistrada V4 and BMW R 1250 GS.
