- Pre-bookings open already
- Will rival Ducati Multistrada V4 and BMW R 1250 GS
- Launch date unavailable yet
Triumph Motorcycles India has released a teaser video of the Tiger 1200 on its social media handles ahead of its imminent launch. However, the Indian arm of the British manufacturer has not announced a launch date for the Ducati Multistrada V4-rivaling adventure tourer. Meanwhile, Triumph Motorcycles India commenced the pre-bookings for this motorcycle in December 2021.
The motorcycle is already available in the international markets where it is offered in two variants – Rally and GT. We expect to see both variants in our market as well. The road-biased GT range is designed for touring while the Rally model is aimed for off-road use. Thus, the GT range uses 19-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheels and a relatively shorter suspension travel than the Rally variant. The off-road biased Rally range gets a longer travel suspension and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels with a cross-spoke design.
The mechanical specifications are identical on both variants. The Euro5-compliant 1,160cc, inline-three cylinder, liquid-cooled engine produces 147bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 130Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a shaft drive system.
The new Triumph Tiger 1200 will rival the Ducati Multistrada V4 and the BMW R 1250 GS in the Indian market. Further, we expect the 2022 model to carry a price premium over its predecessor and retail from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
