BMW Motorrad India has released a teaser image for an upcoming launch in our market. While the Indian arm of the Bavarian manufacturer has not confirmed the model name in this teaser image, it shows the silhouette of the 2023 S 1000 RR that has already been introduced in the international markets.
The 2023 model gets several upgrades over its predecessor. In terms of design, the motorcycle retains the sleek LED headlight assembly from the previous version. However, for 2023, BMW Motorrad has made tweaks to the fairing and added an aero package for improved stability. The newly added winglets are claimed to deliver 10kg downforce. This model also gets a new rear end, more power output, and advanced assistance systems.
The 999cc, inline-four, liquid-cooled engine with BMW ShiftCam now delivers 206.5bhp of maximum output at 13,750rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm. The maximum engine speed is 14,600rpm. The electronic rider aids comprise traction control system with slide control function, ABS with brake slide assist, four ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Race), hill start control, bidirectional quickshifter, launch control, and pit lane limiter. Further, the company will offer Race Pro 1 to 3 modes as optional.
The 2023 S 1000 RR will be launched in the Indian market on 2 December, 2022 at the India Bike Week in Goa. This motorcycle is expected to carry a price premium over its predecessor which was sold at Rs 19.75 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Once launched, the 2023 BMW S 1000 RR will rival the likes of the Ducati Panigale V4 and Kawasaki ZX-10R in the Indian market.
