- Gets functional updates
- Equipped with a new aero kit
- Two test mules spotted testing
The 2023 BMW S 1000 RR has been spotted testing in Germany. The spy shots are of two test bikes with different aero kits and other changes compared to the current version. Here’s what the upcoming model could look like.
The test bikes feature the same fascia as the current model and the overall bodywork also appears to be extensively unchanged. However, the 2023 BMW S 1000 RR could retain the shark gill fairing featured by the last generation bike. This could be done for better heat dissipation followed by better running temperatures for the engine.
Furthermore, both bikes are equipped with winglets that are aimed to provide better downforce at high riding speeds. BMW could offer this as an accessory for the base model while the Pro M Sport gets the winglets as standard. There’s also an air duct for the front disc brake on one of the test mules. This aids in better cooling for the brake setup and overall more efficient braking.
At its heart, the 2023 BMW S 1000 RR will get a 999cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder motor with ShiftCam technology. That said, one of the recently leaked type approval documents reveals that the power could be bumped up by 2bhp. For reference, the current model dishes out 204bhp, and the new bike could make 206bhp. Elsewhere, the 2023 model is likely to sport a new rear sprocket with 45 teeth instead of 46. This could alter the final drive too.
For the rider aids, the Bavarian supersport could retain all that the current model gets. From riding modes to traction control, quickshifter, engine braking control, and more. Lastly, the updated bike could make its debut sometime early next year followed by its launch in India. \
