Ducati India has announced the launch of the new Monster SP in our market at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 15.95 lakh. This motorcycle benefits from styling and hardware revisions over the standard model, and it rivals the likes of the Triumph Street Triple RS in the Indian market.
What’s new on the Ducati Monster SP?
While the overall design of the standard and SP variants is similar, the latter gets a MotoGP-inspired livery along with blacked-out parts and a passenger seat cowl. Meanwhile, the styling cues comprise a projector-style headlight with LED DRL, a compact fly-screen, a muscular fuel tank with integrated front turn indicators, a step-up seat, a side-slung twin-pod exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends.
This new variant also boasts higher-specification hardware that comprises Ohlins-sourced NIX 43mm upside-down front forks and an Ohlins rear monoshock – both fully adjustable – to handle the suspension tasks. The braking hardware includes twin 320mm front discs with Brembo Stylema monoblock four-piston callipers at the front and a single 245mm rotor with Brembo two-piston callipers at the back.
What features does the Ducati Monster SP get?
The standard feature list on the Monster SP comprises full-LED lighting and a 4.3-inch colour TFT display, while the Ducati Multimedia System and heated grips are available as optional extras. The console displays a plethora of readouts, including a lap timer, fuel gauge, and air temperature. Meanwhile, the electronic rider aids consist of a launch control system, three ride modes (Sport, Road, and Wet), cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, power modes, and a quick-shifter.
What are the mechanical specifications of the Ducati Monster SP?
The mechanical specifications on both the Monster variants include a 937cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that delivers 109.9bhp at 9,250rpm and a peak torque of 93Nm at 6,500rpm. This engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and the maintenance intervals stand at 15,000km or 24 months. The valve clearance check, on the other hand, is scheduled every 30,000km. The motorcycle boasts a 14-litre fuel tank and tips the weighing scale at 186kg (kerb).
