The new-generation Hero Xtreme 160R has been spied testing ahead of its launch in India. However, this isn’t the first time it was caught on the go. The early prototypes of the motorcycle were spotted in October 2022.
2023 Hero Xtreme 160R: What’s new?
The new images reveal the production-spec body panels of the Xtreme 160R. It also suggests that the launch will happen sooner than expected. Although the camouflage masks the bike’s changes, we expect the new Xtreme 160R to feature a slightly updated design. That said, a significant design change is unlikely as the Xtreme 160R is already a sporty motorcycle.
2023 Hero Xtreme 160R: New features
We expect the 2023 Xtreme 160R to feature an updated instrument console with more data points on offer. Further, it could also get more connectivity features besides the existing suite available in the current version.
2023 Hero Xtreme 160R: Suspension, wheels and brakes
The cycle parts are expected to remain unchanged. Thus, the new Xtreme 160R is likely to continue with telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock at the back. The current model uses 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, and we expect these to be carried over as is. Disc brakes will perform braking tasks at both ends, while single-channel ABS will be standard.
2023 Hero Xtreme 160R: Engine specifications
With the generation change, we expect the new Hero Xtreme 160R to feature an updated engine, which could offer better performance and improved fuel efficiency. The current version is powered by a 163cc, air-cooled motor that produces 15bhp and 14Nm of peak torque. It is linked to a five-speed gearbox.
2023 Hero Xtreme 160R: Price and launch details
With the upcoming changes, the new Xtreme 160R is expected to receive a bump in its price tag, and we expect the motorcycle to cost around Rs. 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
As for its launch timeline, Hero MotoCorp has a slew of launches planned for this year. The most significant of these is the upcoming Hero Karizma XMR 210, which is likely to be launched in September 2023. This makes us believe that Hero could launch the Xtreme 160R either before the Karizma XMR 210 or towards the end of the year.
