Hero MotoCorp is working on upping its game in the sporty commuter segment by upgrading the Xtreme 160R. The motorcycle is being reworked on and its updated iteration has been spied multiple times to date. While the previous spy shots failed to give away any interesting revisions in the bike, the latest images have uncovered a crucial change it will receive.
2023 Xtreme 160R is equipped with USD forks
The new spy shots of the 2023 Xtreme 160R reveal that it is equipped with higher-end upside-down forks up front, unlike the existing model’s telescopic forks. While the Xtreme is already a phenomenal handler, the inclusion of USD forks will certainly add to the stability and composure of the motorcycle. Amongst its closest rivals, the only motorcycle to boast this equipment is the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 which recently received an update.
2023 Xtreme 160R might get costlier
Apart from the inclusion of upside-down forks, the 2023 Xtreme 160R visually looks unchanged. However, we believe Hero will bestow the bike with some additional features to increase its desirability. In all certainty, these changes will bring along at least a minimal price hike, if not a considerable one. As of now, the ex-showroom (Delhi) prices of the bike start from Rs 1,18,616 and go up to Rs 1,29,738, depending on the variant.
How powerful is the Hero Xtreme 160R’s engine?
Hero MotoCorp is likely to keep the engine of the 2023 Xtreme 160R unaltered. That’s justified considering its 163cc, air-cooled mill is already quite potent for its size. Mated to a five-speed gearbox, it churns out 15bhp at 8,500rpm and 14Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. Interestingly, it offers a commendable power-to-weight ratio with a light kerb weight of 138.5kg.
What’s the hardware package of the Xtreme 160R like?
Underpinned by a tubular diamond-type chassis, the Xtreme 160R rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by 37mm telescopic forks up front and a seven-step preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 276mm disc and a 130mm rotor at the front and rear, respectively. The fuel tank capacity of the motorcycle stands at 12 litres.
