Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has updated its portfolio with the launch of the OBD2-compliant Activa 125 range in our market. This Suzuki Access 125-rival is now available in four variants. The changes to the 2023 range, apart from the newly added H-Smart variant that benefits from additional features, are limited to mechanical updates. Here we list the top five highlights of the Honda Activa 125 OBD2.
How many Honda Activa 125 variants are available in the Indian market?
Unlike the previous version, the 2023 Honda Activa 125 range now comprises four variants – Drum, Drum Alloy, Disc Alloy, and H-Smart. In comparison, the Indian arm of the Japanese manufacturer had offered three variants of the 125cc scooter previously. The base model (Drum) uses steel wheels and drum brakes on both ends, while the Drum Alloy variant gets alloy wheels instead of steel units. Then, the Disc and H-Smart variants get alloy wheels along with a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the back. The base model is available at Rs. 78,920, while the H-Smart version has been priced at Rs. 88,093. Check out the complete price list below:
Drum: Rs. 78,920
Drum Alloy: Rs. 82,588
Disc: Rs. 86,093
H-Smart: Rs. 88,093
The Activa 125 rivals the likes of the TVS Jupiter 125, Hero Destini 125, Yamaha Fascino 125, and Suzuki Access 125 in the Indian market.
How different are the mechanical specifications of the 2023 Honda Activa 125?
The mechanical changes are limited to the necessary hardware for OBD2 compliance. Meanwhile, the scooter retains the 123.97cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that delivers a maximum output of 8.18bhp at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 10.3Nm at 5,000rpm. This engine is mated to a CVT gearbox.
Has the 2023 Honda Activa 125 styling changed, and what are the colour options?
The 2023 Honda Activa 125 range retains the styling cues from its predecessor and thus packs a single-pod headlight with a body-coloured cowl, apron-mounted front turn indicators, body-coloured front fender, and chrome garnishing on the body panel and apron. As for the colour palette, it now comprises five options as against the six in the previous version. The list includes Pearl Night Start Black, Heavy Grey Metallic (not available in Drum variant), Rebel Red Metallic, Pearl Precious White, and Mid Night Blue Metallic.
Does the 2023 Honda Activa 125 get new features?
The feature list across the range is similar to the previous version, and the 2023 Activa 125 continues to use an LED headlight with LED position lamps, Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology, ACG Starter, Idling Stop System, side stand engine inhibitor function, and combined braking system. However, the 2023 Activa 125 comes equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster that incorporates an odometer, clock, ECO indicator, and service due indicator. Then, the H-Smart variant further benefits from a Smart Key System that brings features such as Smart Find, remote unlock, keyless ignition, and an anti-theft system. The smart key can also be used to open the fuel lid and access under-seat storage.
What hardware does the 2023 Honda Activa 125 use?
The 2023 Activa 125, similar to its predecessor, is built around an underbone frame and uses telescopic front forks and a three-step adjustable rear spring to handle the suspension tasks. The anchoring tasks on the base variants (Drum and Drum Alloy) include drum brakes on both wheels, while the higher versions (Disc and H-Smart) use a 190mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear. The safety net across the range includes a combined braking system. Further, the scooter rides on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels.
