Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India updated its TVS Raider 125 rivalling motorcycle, the SP125 to comply with the OBD2 norms. The latest iteration of this premium commuter from Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is available in two variants (drum and disc) and five colours. These include Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic, Pearl Siren Blue and the newly added Matte Marvel Blue Metallic. Notably, the Matte Marvel Blue Metallic has been added from 2023 onwards.
All paint themes, except Matte Axis Grey Metallic, feature identical graphics along with styling elements such as a body-coloured front fender, headlight cowl, and pillion grabrails. Meanwhile, the styling cues and feature list remains similar to the previous version. Thus, the 2023 SP125 retains the single-pod headlight, aggressive design for the bodywork, and bold colours. The feature list includes an LED headlight, a fully-digital instrument cluster, an engine start/stop switch, and a combined braking system. Apart from the regular ride-related data, the digital console also shows real-time fuel economy, average fuel economy, distance-to-empty meter, eco indicator, and gear position indicator.
The mechanical specifications retain the 123.94cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor from the previous version. Linked to a five-speed gearbox, this engine is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 10.7bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 10.9Nm at 6,000rpm. However, the 2023 model gets an onboard diagnostics system that tracks emissions in real time and notifies the rider in case of a fault.
The Honda SP125 competes against the likes of the TVS Raider 125 and Hero Glamour in the Indian market. The drum brake variant is available at Rs. 85,131, while the disc brake version is priced at Rs. 89,131 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
