Honda has updated its sporty 125cc commuter, the SP 125, for 2023. The motorcycle gets a few subtle changes for the new year which make it slightly more desirable. Let’s see what these changes are:
New colour option
Honda revamped the colour palette of the SP 125 by introducing the new Matte Marvel Blue Metallic paint option. With the addition of this shade, the total number of available colour options is five including Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic, and Pearl Siren Blue. The bodywork, however, has been left untouched. It continues to boast sporty body panels with sharp cuts and creases accompanied by edgy graphics.
Wider tyre
While the motorcycle remains unaltered on the hardware front, the motorcycle now comes equipped with a wider rear tyre which should aid with a better straight line and cornering stability. The suspension setup, meanwhile, comprises the same telescopic forks and dual springs while the braking hardware also retains a disc-drum combination. One can also choose the lower-spec variant which gets a drum brake at both ends.
Greener engine
The 124cc, air-cooled engine of the SP 125 remains unchanged in terms of performance numbers. Mated to a five-speed gearbox, it continues to pump out 10.72bhp and 10.9Nm of peak torque. However, Honda has executed minor internal revisions to make it comply with the BS6 phase 2 norms which mandate the presence of an OBD2 setup. This module conveys information about the engine’s emission levels in real-time.
Marginal price hike
Courtesy of the aforementioned updates, the prices of the Honda SP 125 have witnessed a marginal bump of under Rs 1,000. Now, the drum brake version of the bike costs Rs 85,131 while the disc brake trim is pegged at Rs 89,131 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). As for its rivals, the SP 125 mainly competes against the TVS Raider 125 and Hero Glamour.
