- Gets a new paint scheme
- Remains unchanged mechanically
Kawasaki has introduced the 2023 edition of its neo-retro roadster, the Z900RS, in the US. The only update it has received is a new paint scheme – Metallic Diablo Black/Metallic Imperial Red. Meanwhile, the mechanical side of things has been left untouched.
The Z900RS retains its retro theme of design with a round headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a tubular handlebar, and a long tail with a single-piece ribbed-pattern seat. There are a few chrome-finished elements which amp up the retro quotient. The list of available features is a bare minimum with a semi-digital console, LED tail lamp and indicators, switchable dual-channel ABS, traction control system, and an assist and slipper clutch.
Powering the Z900RS is a 948cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 107bhp at 8,500rpm and 95Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels that are suspended by 41mm inverted front forks and a rear mono-shock. Braking duties are handled by 300mm dual discs at the front and a 250mm single rotor at the back.
After the Z900RS was discontinued during the BS6 transition, Kawasaki hasn’t brought it back to India yet. However, we might see the motorcycle making a comeback in the coming months.
