After the international markets, Royal Enfield announced the launch of the 2023 Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 in India. The latest iterations of the motorcycles come with several updates over their respective predecessors. Previously, we brought you the top five highlights of the 2023 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. Here we explain the Continental GT 650 in detail.
What styling changes does the 2023 Continental GT 650 get?
Royal Enfield has updated the colour palette for the 2023 Continental GT 650, and this middleweight café-racer is now available in two new blacked-out versions – Slipstream Blue and Apex Grey. These new colourways will be sold alongside the Mr Clean, Dux Deluxe, British Racing Green, and Rocker Red paint themes that were already available in the Indian market. Notably, the new blacked-out variant of the 2023 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 will feature a blacked-out engine and exhaust parts. This variant will also get cast alloy wheels that would be shod in tubeless tyres. Meanwhile, the rest of the versions will retain the 18-inch wire-spoke wheels that would be wrapped in tube-type tyres.
Does the 2023 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 get new features?
Apart from the new colours and the alloy wheels, Royal Enfield has updated the feature list for the 2023 Continental GT 650. For example, it now uses an LED headlight instead of a halogen unit, while the switchgear is similar to the unit on the new Super Meteor 650. The company has also redesigned the saddle for enhanced comfort and added a USB charging port. Meanwhile, the 2023 model retains a halogen-style taillight, twin-pod instrument cluster, and dual-channel ABS from the previous version.
Are the mechanical specifications on the 2023 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 any different?
The 2023 model retains the 647.95cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine with a single overhead camshaft and fuel injection system that also powers the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Super Meteor 650. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 46.8bhp at 7,250rpm and a peak torque of 52.3Nm at 5,150rpm.
What hardware does the 2023 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 use?
Apart from the addition of alloy wheels on the blacked-out version, the Continental GT 650 retains the hardware from the previous version. Thus, the standard colour options continue to use 18-inch wire-spoke wheels. The middleweight café-racer is built around a steel tubular double-cradle frame and uses telescopic front forks and preload-adjustable twin rear springs to handle the suspension duties. The anchoring power comes from a single 320mm disc at the front and a single 240mm rotor at the back. Other key dimensions include a 12.5-litre fuel tank, 174mm of ground clearance, and 214kg of kerb weight.
