Triumph kicked off 2023 with the updated Street Triple 765 and invited us to Spain to ride it. We tested both the RS and the R at the Jerez racetrack and across the hills, respectively. In this story, we’ll look at the Street Triple RS through these detailed images.
The 2023 model retains the bug-eyed LED headlights and its strong design cues. But it looks more chiselled now as the radiator cowl, fuel tank, and extensions have been redesigned. The rear seat has also been replaced by a cowl and gels well with the overall theme of the bike.
Triumph offers the new Street Triple RS in Cosmic Yellow, Silver Ice, and Carnival Red colour options.
Apart from minor visual tweaks, the bike also gets revised mechanical internals. So, the inline three-cylinder motor gets a higher compression ratio, tweaked combustion chamber, revised gear ratio, and an altered final drive. The motor now dishes out 129bhp and 80Nm and continues to be linked to a six-speed gearbox.
While riding the Street Triple RS at the Jerez track, we found that the bike is quite welcoming and manageable even if you want to ride it slowly in the beginning. But once you start pushing it harder as the laps proceed, the engine responds in a very tractable manner and also unleashes all the ponies as you throttle out of the corners.
The same felt fairly spirited when we rode the bike in a gear higher around third-gear bends. That said, the speedometer displayed 200kmph in no time while being ridden in the fifth gear.
After switching to the Track mode, the Street Triple RS’ rider aids are the least intrusive. And that results in sharper throttle input compared to the Road mode. But, the rear end also slides easily in track mode if the throttle input is jerky.
The six-speed gearbox benefits from a quickshifter that offers smooth clutchless upshifts as the motor picks up the speeds.
Complementing this is a reliable braking setup from Brembo. The M50s offer commendable bite and help stop the bike quicker than you’d predict it to. Even the Pirelli Supercorsa tyres were very sticky on the track and allowed to push the bike to its limits.
