- Updated Yamaha FZ-15 launched in Brazil
- Gets new styling and new tyres
- Could be launched in India by end of this year
Yamaha has launched the 2023 FZ-15 in Brazil. The motorcycle called the Fazer FZ-15 in the South American country throws light on what we Indians could get when the FZ V3 is updated here, sometime later this year.
The biggest change is to its styling. The front end now sports an updated headlamp setup that is similar to what we see on the FZ25 sold in India. However, the rest of the styling remains the same as the FZ V3 that is available in our country. So, the 2023 FZ-15 continues with the brawny fuel tank with faux air vents, a single-piece seat with a small tail lamp and a stubby exhaust to complete the rear end.
That said, Yamaha has thrown in some fresh rubber in the form of Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 tyres as standard. The manufacturer has also decreased the fuel tank capacity to 11.9 litres while minutely increasing the ground clearance and length of the 2023 model. Now, the interesting bit is the engine. While it has a displacement of 149cc like the FZ V3, this motor on the FZ-15 can run on petrol as well as ethanol! It offers 12.2bhp and 12.4bhp in either mode and 12.7Nm of torque; down from 13.3Nm.
In comparison, the Indian-spec FZ V3 produces 12.4bhp and 13.3Nm. That said, the underpinnings are no different. It uses the same braking and suspension setup with 17-inch wheels at both ends. The Brazilian and Indian versions of the Yamaha FZ-15 also weigh the same at 135kg. Now, Yamaha is offering the FZ-15 in a choice of three colours- Racing Blue, Midnight Black and Magma Red. And when it is launched in India, the 2023 FZ and FZ-S will continue to compete with the Bajaj Pulsar N160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Suzuki Gixxer.
