Yamaha celebrated the first-ever MotoGP Bharat by introducing the MotoGP edition on the MT-15 along with other two-wheelers in its line-up including the R15 and Ray ZR 125. Well, with the new colour, the street motorcycle in available in seven colours now.
The Yamaha MT-15 MotoGP edition is the most expensive of the lot priced at Rs 1.72 lakh, ex-showroom. It features the Eneos and Monster Energy branding splashed across the blue and black bodywork just like the Yamaha M1- the brand’s MotoGP machine. Then you have the Racing Blue, Cyan Storm, and Ice Fluo Vermillion, Metallic Black DLX, Metallic Black and Dark Matte Blue as well. That said, the starting price of the MT-15 is Rs 1.67 lakh depending on the colour you choose.
Apart from the new paint scheme, the 2023 MT-15 was recently updated with an OBD2-compliant 155cc single-cylinder engine. This motor churns out 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The MT-15 alsoc comes with features like LED illumination, VVA (Variable Valve Actuation), and smartphone connectivity which is only available for the Y-Connect edition and gives you access to call alerts, SMS and e-mail alert, phone battery level, last parked location, and malfunction notifications. As for safety, the MT-15 offers ABS and a traction control system.
Competition for the Yamaha MT-15 comes in the form of the Hero Xtreme 160R, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Honda Hornet 2.0.
