- Gets full-LED lighting
- Likely to feature new paint themes
- 2023 model to get dual-channel ABS
The 2023 Yamaha MT-15 has started to roll into the dealerships. While Yamaha Motor India is yet to make a launch announcement, a YouTube video has revealed various details about this upcoming motorcycle.
2023 Yamaha MT-15: Features
As revealed by the source, the 2023 iteration of the Yamaha MT-15 benefits from full-LED lighting. Thus, the LED headlight and taillight are now joined by LED turn indicators as standard. Previously, these LED turn indicators were sold as an optional extra, while the motorcycle came standard with halogen indicators. Then, the 2023 iteration of MT-15 also benefits from a dual-channel ABS as against the single-channel unit on its predecessor. Meanwhile, this roadster model will retain the LCD instrument cluster from the previous model that already came equipped with the Yamaha Y-connect Bluetooth module.
2023 Yamaha MT-15: Styling Changes
The overall design remains unaltered and the 2023 Yamaha MT-15 continues to feature the same aggressive styling as its predecessor. Thus, the motorcycle gets a projector-style LED headlight with twin LED DRLs at the front, golden-coloured tubes for the front forks, a muscular fuel tank, radiator shrouds, a step-up seat, and a side-slung exhaust. However, Yamaha Motor India has altered the paint theme and the Metallic Black colour option now gets orange-painted alloy wheels. We expect to see a few tweaks to the rest of the paint options too.
2023 Yamaha MT-15: Engine Specifications
The overall mechanical specifications will remain unchanged. Thus, the MT-15 will continue to use the 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. However, Yamaha Motor India has updated the MT-15 with an OBD-2 sensor to comply with the upcoming norms.
2023 Yamaha MT-15: Hardware
The hardware will remain unaltered as well, and the 2023 Yamaha MT-15 will continue to use upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock to handle the suspension tasks. The braking setup will include disc brakes on both wheels, while the safety net on the 2023 model, as mentioned in the source video, will include dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle will also use a side-stand engine cut-off switch function to enhance the rider's safety.
2023 Yamaha MT-15: Rivals and Expected Price
The Yamaha MT-15 competes against the likes of KTM 125 Duke, Honda Hornet 2.0, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, and Bajaj Pulsar NS200 in the Indian market. The 2023 iteration is expected to arrive with a marginal price increase over its predecessor. The previous version, for reference, was available from Rs 1,64,400 onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi).
