- Officially launching on 13 February
- New colour options to be introduced
- R15’s LCD is to be replaced by a TFT dash
Yamaha recently sent out a virtual launch invite that is scheduled to take place on 13 February 2023 in India. In all probabilities, the new products to be launched at this event will be the 2023 edition of the R15 V4, MT 15 V2, and the FZ-X.
The updated models of these three motorcycles were recently spotted at a dealership, revealing some of the changes they will receive. The most significant change has been observed in R15 which will now get a colour TFT instrument cluster, in place of an LCD dash. This unit will show all the necessary data along with add-ons like a lap timer. The spy video of the R15 also shows LED turn indicators in place of conventional ones which is a change noticed in the 2023 MT-15 V2 as well. Moreover, the latter will also benefit from a dual-channel ABS setup, as against the existing bike’s single-channel ABS.
On the cosmetic front, all three bikes remain the same in terms of bodywork but the colour palette will be refreshed. The FZ-X, in particular, was spotted in a gleaming golden front wheel rim along with dark blue body panels. However, there are chances that it will get a new variant also, perhaps with a Himalayan-like tall windscreen and a high-set front fender. Moreover, Yamaha might include an OBD 2 scanner to monitor the real-world emissions of all three bikes.
Apart from these updates, the 2023 editions of the R15 V4, MT-15 V2, and FZ-X are likely to remain unchanged on the mechanical front. The prices, meanwhile, might increase by about Rs 8,000-10,000.
