India Yamaha Motor has updated its portfolio by launching the mildly updated versions of the R15 V4 and the R15S. Although the updates are subtle, they add to the desirability of the motorcycles. In that case, let’s see what these updates are alongside the other details of the bikes.
R15 V4 gets a new colour scheme
The 2023 R15 V4 has been launched in a new colour scheme called Intensity White. This shade looks quite eye-catchy, especially on the aggressive and proportionate bodywork that the R15 boasts. The white bodywork is accompanied by contrasting red wheels and golden upside-down forks. As for the S variant, it hasn’t received any visual changes and continues to look the same as the V4’s predecessor.
Quick shifter as standard for R15 V4 Intensive White colour
The Intensity White colour of the R15 V4 has been equipped with a quick shifter as standard. Previously, it was only available with R15M, MotoGP, and Racing Blue colours as standard. Buyers who opt for the Dark Knight and Metallic Red colour scheme can get a quick shifter installed at an additional cost. The S trim, however, does not benefit from a quick shifter yet.
New LCD console for R15S
In the S variant, Yamaha has also included the newer, more data-intensive instrument cluster which was introduced with the V4 variant. Besides the basic data, this console shows additional information like average fuel economy and average speed. Furthermore, this console is also Bluetooth-enabled. It connects with the ride’s smartphone via the Y-Connect application and shows phone notifications on the instrument cluster.
Engine and hardware
The engine of the R15 V4 and the R15S is identical – a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with variable valve actuation (VVA) that churns out 18.1bhp and 14.2Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox along with an assist and slipper clutch.
On the hardware front, the only difference is that the V4 gets upside-down forks while the S makes do with conventional telescopic forks. The rest of the cycle parts are largely the same. At the rear, suspension duties are handled by a preload-adjustable monoshock while braking is taken care of by a single disc at both ends. Dual-channel ABS too is common in both versions of the bike.
Price
The new Intensive White paint scheme of the Yamaha R14 V4 has been pegged at Rs 1.85 lakh. Whereas, the R15S is considerably more affordable with a price tag of Rs 1.63 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
