- Standard model gets refreshed decals
- Both variants get an OBD-II sensor
- Compliant with E-20 fuel
Yamaha has launched the updated 2023 iteration of its 125cc scooter, the Ray ZR 125, in India. While the scooter remains unchanged on the hardware and engine front, Yamaha has equipped it with an OBD-II sensor and made it E-20 fuel compliant. On the visual front, new colour options for the Street Rally variant have been introduced while keeping the bodywork untouched.
2023 Yamaha Ray ZR new colours
The 2023 model of the Ray ZR 125 Street Rally Fi Hybrid trim will now be available in two new colours including Matte Black and Light Grey Vermillion. Also, the older Matte Copper paint scheme has been retained in its colour palette. The standard Ray ZR 125, meanwhile, continues to be available in Metallic Black, Cyan Blue, and Matte Red. However, these have been bestowed with a new set of decals which make them look fresh.
2023 Yamaha Ray ZR 125 design and features
Yamaha hasn’t made any changes to the overall design of the scooter and that’s justified considering it looks quite contemporary in its existing avatar. It’s adorned with a wide front apron sporting faux air intakes and dual-tone finishing. The handlebar cowl is fitted with a tiny fly screen which is flanked by knuckle guards (in the Street Rally trim). Moreover, the edgy rear section makes the scooter visually proportionate.
Now, the most noteworthy feature of the Ray ZR 125 is its Bluetooth compatibility. The digital console of the scooter connects with the Y-Connect smartphone application in which one can see fuel consumption, maintenance recommendations, last parking location, malfunction notification, revs dashboard, and rider ranking. Other features include an automatic start-stop function, a side stand engine cut-off, and a combined braking system.
2023 Yamaha Ray ZR 125 specification
The rest of the aspects of the Ray ZR 125 remain unchanged for 2023. Powering the scooter is a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with fuel injection technology that makes a maximum output of 8bhp at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 10.3Nm at 5,000rpm. It rides on a 12-10-inch alloy wheel combination which is suspended by telescopic forks and a monoshock. Furthermore, braking is handled by a single disc up front and a drum at the rear. And one can also choose the more affordable drum brake variant of the scooter.
