Yamaha Motor India has announced the launch of the 2023 YZF-R15 V4 in our market and the 155cc motorcycle is now available from Rs. 1,80,900 onwards. Here we list the alternatives that potential buyers can consider in a similar price range as the Yamaha YZF-R15 V4.
KTM 125 Duke (Rs. 1,78,041)
KTM India’s most affordable product is available at a similar price tag as the Yamaha YZF-R15 V4 Metallic Red paint theme. Similar to the YZF-R15 V4, the KTM 125 Duke uses a liquid-cooled engine and makes a healthy power output. This product from KTM India uses a 124.7cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that delivers a maximum output of 14.3bhp at 9,250rpm and a peak torque of 12Nm at 8,000rpm. It features a 1290 Super Duke-inspired styling and comes with equipment such as a halogen headlight with LED DRLs, LED taillight, LED turn indicators, a digital instrument cluster, and a single-channel ABS.
Suzuki Gixxer 250 (Rs. 1,81,400)
Suzuki Motorcycle India’s quarter-litre naked roadster, the Gixxer 250, is available in the same price range as the Yamaha YZF-R15 V4. This roadster-segment motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer comes with a 249cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine that delivers 26.13bhp of maximum output at 9,300rpm and 22.2Nm of peak torque at 7,300rpm. Further, the Gixxer 250 comes with an LED headlight, a Bluetooth-enabled digital display with turn-by-turn navigation, and a dual-channel ABS.
Jawa Standard (Rs. 1,81,415)
The retro-style Jawa standard, too, retails in the same price bracket as the Yamaha YZF-R15. However, unlike the Japanese model, this Jawa product gets a relatively subtle feature list such as a halogen headlight and a semi-digital instrument cluster. Meanwhile, it gets a higher displacement engine that puts out more power than the YZF-R15. This retro-style motorcycle, for reference, uses a 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 27bhp and 28Nm of peak torque. This motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Bajaj Dominar 250 (Rs. 1,81,850)
Bajaj Auto’s quarter-litre Dominar is a touring-friendly alternative to the Yamaha YZF-R15 V4. This Bajaj Dominar branded motorcycle is powered by a 248.8cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Linked to a six-speed transmission, this motor delivers 26.63bhp at 8,500rpm and 23.5Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The feature list is premium, and the Dominar 250 comes with full-LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster, and a dual-channel ABS. However, unlike some products on this list, the Dominar 250 misses Bluetooth connectivity.
KTM RC 125 (Rs. 1,88,640)
KTM 125 Duke’s fully-faired version sits between the Yamaha YZF-R15 and YZF-R15M variants. Similar to the roadster model, the KTM RC125, too, uses a 124.7cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 14.34bhp at 9,250rpm and 12Nm at 8,000rpm. Unlike the Yamaha YZF-R15, the KTM RC125 uses a halogen headlight and misses Bluetooth connectivity. Meanwhile, it packs features such as LED turn indicators, a digital display, and a single-channel ABS as standard.
