Yamaha Motor India is expected to launch its much-awaited products, the YZF-R3 and MT-03 in our market in the coming months. These sub-500cc motorcycles are expected to arrive ahead of the high-demand festive season, and thus we should hear a launch announcement by late July or early August 2023.
These motorcycles were displayed to dealer partners in India, alongside the likes of the YZF-R7, MT-07, and MT-09. In fact, several dealers across India have already started accepting unofficial bookings for the upcoming 2023 YZF-R3 and MT-03. The booking amount for these motorcycles varies from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 depending on the dealership.
To give you a quick recap, the Yamaha YZF-R3 is a fully-faired motorcycle that will rival the likes of the KTM RC390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 in India. Meanwhile, the MT-03 will compete against the KTM 390 Duke in our market. Notably, both motorcycles use the same 321cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that makes 40.4bhp and 29.4Nm of peak torque.
Meanwhile, as reported by our sister publication, Mobility Outlook, Yamaha Motor India is likely to introduce its new middleweight motorcycles in our market post-2023. Eishin Chihana, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, also said in an interview that the Japanese manufacturer can introduce limited numbers of YZF-R7 and MT-07.
