- Spotted at Madras Motor Race Track
- Probably brought for a TVC shoot before the official launch
- Likely to debut in early 2024
The Yamaha YZF-R7 has been spotted in India ahead of its official launch. The bike was photographed at the famed Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) during a probable TVC shoot and we expect Yamaha to launch it here sometime in early 2024. Moreover, these Japanese middleweights are likely to be brought to India in a limited number only.
Yamaha showcased the YZF-R7 alongside the MT-07 to select dealers a few months ago. Its intent to enter India's middleweight motorcycle segment seems quite strong too. Some of the dealers across the country have already commenced unofficial bookings with a token amount of around Rs. 20,000.
The R7 draws power from a 689cc, twin-cylinder motor mated to a six-speed gearbox. It dishes out 73bhp at 8,750rpm and 67Nm at 6,500rpm. Its hardware comprises USD front forks and a monoshock. Then, the bike rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in a 120/70 front and a 180/55 rear tyre. Overall, the R7 looks very aggressive and follows Yamaha’s sporty design philosophy, similar to the bigger litre class offerings that are currently available overseas only.
As of now, there’s no word regarding the pricing but once launched, the Yamaha YZF-R7 will rival the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Honda CBR 650R, and their likes.
