Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has launched the 2024 edition of the 42 in India. The starting price of the motorcycle is Rs. 17,000 less than the previous model. Does that mean the company has skimped on some bits? On the contrary, there are many changes in the bike to make it better than before. Let’s take a look at these changes along with the pictures of the 2024 Jawa 42.
Jawa claims that the new 42 has more refined NHV levels courtesy of a redesigned balancer weight and new hub-type balancer gear, both of which have contributed to reduced vibrations.
Similar to the new Yezdi Adventure, this neo-retro roadster gets gear-based mapping with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th being optimised for more tractability with better torque in the lower revs.
Although the torque and power numbers have remained similar to those of its predecessor, the performance is claimed to be improved due to a heavier magneto, larger throttle body and entry duct, and a CP4 cylinder head.
It continues to be powered by a 294.72cc engine that produces 26.9bhp and 26.8Nm of peak torque. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox along with an assist and slipper clutch.
The 42 is based on a double cradle frame that rides on an 18-17-inch alloy wheel combination while some variants also get spoke wheels. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks and dual springs.
The kerb weight of the Jawa 42 stands at 182kg while the fuel tank capacity is 13.2 litres. The seat height is on the accessible side at 788mm.
The ex-showroom prices of the new Jawa 42 start from Rs. 1.73 lakh and go up to Rs. 1.98 lakh, depending on the variant you choose.
