- Expected to get alloy wheels and tubeless tyres
- New colour options might also be on offer
Kawasaki is expected to launch the updated version of its smallest motorcycle, the W175, at the India Bike Week today, 8 December. If online reports are anything to go by, the modern-classic offering will get alloy wheels with fatter tubeless tyres, unlike the existing iteration that comes equipped with spoke wheels accompanied by tube tyres. It might also be offered with new colour schemes for a fresher visual appeal.
The W175 looks quintessentially old-school with a round headlamp, circular mirrors, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a chunky single-piece seat. Powering the motorcycle is a 177cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 12.8bhp and 13.2Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Underpinned by a double cradle frame, it rides on 17-inch wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks and dual springs. The stopping power comes from a disc-drum combination with a single-channel ABS. It is pretty light with a kerb weight of 135kg and incorporates a fuel tank of 12 litres.
The existing model of the Kawasaki W175 is pegged at Rs 1.47 lakh and Rs 1.49 lakh for Ebony and Candy Persimmon Red, respectively. Considering the aforementioned updates, the upcoming model will certainly be slightly more expensive.
