With safety becoming paramount, more and more manufacturers are introducing advanced safety features in their two-wheelers. Jumping on this bandwagon, Kawasaki is set to offer a traction control system on the Z650RS neo-retro roadster for the 2024 model year.
2024 Kawasaki Z650RS: What’s new?
Unlike the more sophisticated IMU-based traction control system offered in the Ninja ZX-10R, the Kawasaki Z650RS will feature a more straightforward wheel speed sensor-based traction control system. This update is planned in compliance with the stricter safety norms in the global markets. Further, we can also expect the 2024 Z650RS to get new colour schemes. Closer to home, the good news is that the updated Z650RS is India-bound and is expected to be launched here sometime in 2024.
2024 Kawasaki Z650RS: Engine specifications
Besides the updated safety kit, the 2024 Kawasaki Z650RS will likely be mechanically identical to the current version. The motorcycle will use Kawasaki’s tried and tested 649cc, parallel-twin engine that also does duty on the Versys 650, Ninja 650, and many more. This motor develops 67bhp and 64Nm and comes paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Damping duties will be performed by 41mm telescopic forks and a mono-shock at the back. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels at both ends, while it sheds speed via disc brakes at the front and back. The safety net includes dual-channel ABS.
2024 Kawasaki Z650RS: Competition
Globally, the Kawasaki Z650RS rivals the Yamaha XSR700, Honda CB650R and the DucatiScrambler. In India, it rivals the latter two. As for its pricing in India, the Z650RS costs Rs. 6.92 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
