- Boasts a different design
- Mechanical changes are also evident
- Likely to be more powerful
KTM has been actively working on revamping its sportbike portfolio by updating the existing models and introducing a larger displacement offering. Interestingly, these motorcycles were recently spotted testing on public roads abroad. While we have already told you about the next-generation RC 125, accompanying it on test runs was the bigger 2024 RC 390.
The next-generation RC 390 is likely to get updates similar to its upcoming 125cc counterpart. So, the design will be sharper and more angular than the existing model. Now, the test mule was clicked from the rear three-quarter and thus the front fascia wasn’t visible. On the feature front, the current generation model is already crammed with electronics but KTM might still include additional goodies to make it even more enticing.
Also, the engine casing on the 2024 RC 390 test mule looked differently designed, pointing towards some internal changes. It’s being speculated that it might make more power than the bike on sale which makes 43bhp and 37Nm. Other mechanical changes include a revised chassis and sub-frame, a banana-style swingarm, and an offset monoshock. Moreover, the front disc brake is placed on the right side and it’s likely to be a more efficient unit.
Since the test mule of the new KTM RC 390 didn’t look completely ready for production, it’s expected to be globally unveiled only next year, perhaps in the first half.
