- Updated Ather 450X likely to be launched on 4 January
- All set to get performance and safety upgrades
- Prices to go up by around Rs. 5,000
Ather Energy is all set to launch the 2025 model of one of its electric scooters on 4 January 2025. This will most likely be the 450X because that’s the brand’s most popular offering and has been due for a major update for a long time.
Ather’s CEO and co-founder, Tarun Mehta recently teased the arrival of the updated model of the scooter on social media giving away hints on the nature of updates. The brand also released a promotional video a week back showing one of its scooters going up against two ICE vehicles including a 160cc motorcycle and a 125cc scooter at a race track. Both these posts indicate that the 450X has received a performance upgrade while Tarun’s teaser also mentions about enhanced safety.
As for the performance part, the 450X may have gotten its top speed bumped up to 100kmph, the same as the 450 Apex. The existing version of the 450X maxes out at 90kmph. We are also expecting an increment in its real-world battery range from the existing 90km (2.9kWh) and 110km (3.7kWh). Tarun Mehta’s post also includes the word ‘Track-Tion’ which might be a hint at the scooter receiving an advanced version of its existing traction control system called Skid Control. A bunch of software updates along with the inclusion of its new AtherStack 6 software should also be a part of the package.
The updates will also bring along a price hike. As we revealed last month, all Ather scooters will receive a price bump of around Rs. 5,000 from January 2025. As of now, the Ather 450X starts from Rs. 1.40 lakh (2.9kWh without Pro Pack) and goes up to Rs. 1.75 lakh (3.7kWh with Pro Pack), ex-showroom.
