- Gets new tail lamp assembly
- Fully digital console revealed
- Official launch could take place this week
Bajaj is all set to launch the updated model of the Pulsar RS 200 in India. The company has released a few teasers so far which did not reveal much about the nature of updates it will get. However, that has changed now as videos of the new model highlighting the updates have started circulating online.
The biggest alteration has come in the form of a new tail lamp which looks more subtle than the outrageous-looking, vertically-stacked units on the existing iteration. The new tail lamp assembly comprises a pair of small boomerang-shaped lights flanking the license plate holder. Unlike its predecessor, which sports separate turn indicators, the blinkers have now been integrated into the tail lamp. This will certainly lend the bike a cleaner rear-end design.
As has been the case with all other long-running Pulsars, the new RS 200 gets a negative LCD console which replaces the semi-digital unit of the current-gen model. This display looks identical to the one featured on most other Pulsars. Lastly, Bajaj will introduce new colour options for the bike two of which can be seen in the leaked images. One of these is a swanky red and white paint scheme while the other is a more understated black and grey colour combination.
The rest of the aspects of the Pulsar RS 200 seem to have remained unchanged. Given the fact that its naked sibling, the Pulsar NS 200 comes equipped with upside-down forks, it’s surprising to see that Bajaj has skimped on that for the RS 200. The main reason could be the visual mass that the RS already carries on the front end which, anyway, hides a majority of the front forks. It will continue to be powered by a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and produces 24.1bhp and 18.7Nm.
The existing model of the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 carries a sticker price of Rs. 1.74 lakh, ex-showroom. The upcoming model will certainly demand a minor price hike. The price announcement is likely to take place this week.
