- KTM 390 SMC R India launch under consideration
- Could be launched after the launch of the 390 Adventure range
KTM showcased the 390 SMC R at EICMA 2024, alongside the 390 Adventure R and the 390 Enduro R. While the 390 Adventure range will be launched in India in early 2025, there is no word on whether the bike maker will launch the KTM 390 SMC R in India.
However, we have learned through our sources that KTM plans to launch the SMC R in India, albeit at a later date than the ADV range. KTM believes that the supermoto market isn’t developed in India and the company will gauge the market response before launching the KTM 390 SMC R in our market.
If launched, the KTM 390 SMC R will be the first supermoto bike in India in the sub-500cc segment. The SMC R could turn out to be the only KTM motorcycle you’d ever need for India. Imagine riding something as nimble as the 390 Duke but with a long-travel suspension setup to tackle Indian roads.
Speaking of the 390 SMC R, the supermoto uses the same 399cc, liquid-cooled motor that produces 45.3bhp and 39Nm of peak torque on the 390 Duke. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. It rides on 17-inch wheels, wrapped in stickier rubber.
If launched in India, we expect the KTM 390 SMC R to be positioned between the 390 Duke and the upcoming 390 Adventure R.
