New R9-inspired design
Receives slipper clutch and Bluetooth connectivity
Mechanical aspects remain unchanged
After staying untouched for many years, the Yamaha R3 has finally received a much-needed update for the year 2025. The latest iteration boasts tweaked bodywork and additional features.
The motorcycle looks much sharper and more aggressive now with a revised fascia. The sleeker DRLs flank a projector LED headlight which sits inside an air intake-like provision. The side fairings have also been given a minor nip and tuck along with the tail section and the overall stance looks sportier than before.
The R3 is also not as bland as before on the features front since Yamaha has equipped it with an assist and slipper clutch, finally! This will certainly make spirited riding safer and lighten the clutch-pull action. Furthermore, it gets a new LCD console which can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth. We think it's high time Yamaha gives a TFT dash to the R3 to keep up with the competition.
The main technical specifications of the 2025 Yamaha R3 remain the same as its predecessor. It is powered by a 321cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 41.4bhp and 29.5Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by USD front forks and a rear monoshock, both sourced from KYB. Stopping power comes from a single disc at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
The Yamaha R3 competes against the Aprilia RS457 and Kawasaki Ninja 500. The Japanese bike maker might launch the updated model in India soon, perhaps around early 2025.
