Honda recently launched their first BS-IV compliant motorcycle – the CB Hornet 160R for the Indian market. In fact, the company is gearing up to update its entire range with this new engine next year.
As per the government’s new rule, all new two-wheelers should meet BS-IV emission norms by March 31, 2017. Honda wants to get this new engine to its product as early as possible. In order to achieve this, the Japanese manufacturer will launch its products with a BS-IV compliant engine starting from next year. As per ET, Honda will update 14 of its products to meet this emission norm.
The company will also equip all its products with Combined Brake System (CBS) and Antilock Braking System (ABS) on two-wheelers over 125cc. This will be done by the end of 2016. However, the top honcho of the company said that these new additions will increase the cost of its products, which has to be shelled out by the customer. The company is also making sure to come with cost effective solutions.
We appreciate Honda for becoming the first Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to contribute to the ecosystem in a small but effective manner. We are sure other big manufacturers like Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj are also working on the same lines.
