UM Motorcycles recently confirmed the launch of its first set of models for the Indian two wheeler market. The brand has revealed that it will start selling the Renegade series of bikes starting October this year. With prices expected to range between Rs 1-1.5 lakh, this new set of models is set to go up against some well established brands like Royal Enfield and KTM.
In addition to the Renegade series of cruisers, UM Motorcycles is also expected to bring the very exciting Hypersport model to India. Spotted recently on test in Pune by an Auto Column reader, this all-new dual-purpose model rightly fits the bill for a relatively compact fun motorcycle.
The UM Hypersport is powered by a 223cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke engine producing 17bhp of power and nearly 17Nm of torque. Weighing just 122 kilograms (dry), the bike seems like it could offer loads of thrill to those looking for a small dual-purpose two wheeler.
The Hypersport is a fairly sporty looking motorcycle, one that is filled with usable features. There’s a digital instrument cluster, USB charging, ventilated discs at both ends, upside down front forks and sporty looking alloy wheels. With prices expected to hover around the Rs 1.5 lakh mark, the Hypersport could very well be the ideal choice for those who have always liked the Hero Moto Corp Impulse but found the latter to be lacking in power.
Besides the Hypersport, the brand will also launch the Renegade Commando, Renegade Sport and Renegade Duty in India. All the models are expected to be manufactured at UM’s upcoming facility in Delhi-NCR region.
