The older tried and tested Honda Unicorn 150cc model has proved to be four times more successful than the Unicorn 160cc which is newer and more efficient in almost every way. The 160 replaced the ever successful 150. But, Honda had to relaunch the 150 because of the declining sales of the 160 and the market share Honda was losing in the segment.
To get the pricing out of the way, the Unicorn 150 costs about Rs 82,000 on road and the 160 costs Rs 85,000. The additional Rs 3,000 should not prove to be a deal breaker for the numerous technological developments the motorcycle features. Back in 2015, the Unicorn 160 saw healthy sales number averaging to over 13,000 units a month. In 2016, things took a turn for this motorcycle and sales figures dropped drastically resulting in Honda losing its share in the 150cc-160cc segment.
The sales for the Honda CB Unicorn 160 dropped to only 52 units in January this year. Wasting no time, Honda went ahead and relaunched the age-old CB Unicorn 150. It sold 7685 units of this motorcycle in February which went up to 10,405 in March. This clearly shows that Honda has had to go in with the old and out with the new. Sources tell us that the CB Unicorn 160 could be discontinued soon.
