New Harley-Davidson electric bike to be launched by 2021

Harley-Davidson will launch their first electric motorcycle within the next five years. The company is currently in the process of developing an all new bike that will help the iconic American manufacturer get into the electric vehicle business.

This development was confirmed by Sean Cummings, senior vice president, global demand, Harley-Davidson during an interview with Milwaukee Business Journal. While Sean decided to keep mum on this electric motorcycle, it’s being speculated that the Livewire motorcycle will finally make its way to the production line. However, we don’t think that’s the case because Project Livewire was launched to gauge motorcycle enthusiasts’ reactions including dealers and journalists. The Livewire motorcycle was developed by Mission Motors for Harley, however, the former shut its doors. 

We believe the American manufacturer is working on a new electric powertrain that’ll be used in this upcoming motorcycle. This is their biggest challenge as the company till now was related to big cruisers and bobbers with V-Twin engines. It looks like the company got a good response from the Livewire project, because without that, it would’ve been impossible to commit to five years of product development. 

We’re quite excited to see the final product but unfortunately, five years is really a long wait.
