KTM 390 Duke based adventure bike spied

 KTM’s 390 Duke-based adventure bike has been spotted testing for the first time. 

Surprisingly, this motorcycle’s styling has more in common with the KTM Enduro than the Adventure range. This shows the company’s intent of marketing the bike as a serious dual sport motorcycle rather than a road-biased adventure tourer.  The raised front fender, narrow profile, spoked wheels, upswept exhaust and the long travel suspension should give it good off-road capabilities. 

The 390 Adventure will be based off the 390 Duke platform, with a different swingarm and beefed up sub frame. In the 390 Duke and RC390, the 373cc single-cylinder engine delivers 43bhp and 35Nm of torque though we expect it to be detuned for the 390 Adventure. It rides on inverted front forks and a rear monoshock. The 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels get dual sport tyres. 

The KTM 390 Adventure will be unveiled at the 2017 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. And while KTM is still cooking up its small-capacity adventure bike, Royal Enfield, Kawasaki, Suzuki and BMW have already got a head start. In the Indian market, the Himalayan currently enjoys the monopoly in this segment. Over the next year, the competition will heat up with the launch of the Versys-X 300 and the G310 GS.
