Triumph Bonneville cruiser spied testing

Triumph’s upcoming cruiser has been spotted testing in Europe. A part of Triumph’s modern classic family, the new cruiser is based on the same parallel-twin architecture as the new Bonneville range. 

The Bonneville cruiser gets the characteristic low-slung look of a traditional American cruiser. The round headlamp, indicators, instrument console and the slant-cut exhausts are in line its old-school character. It even gets a tall handlebar and pillion back rest. Like the Triumph Bobber, the tail of the cruiser has been designed to resemble a rigid arm, though we expect the rear suspension concealed below the seat. The ‘1200 Bonneville’ badge on the engine confirms that it gets the ‘High Torque’ engine from the Bonneville T120. This 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine delivers 76bhp and 106Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission. 

The Bonneville cruiser might not turn out to be very popular in Europe, although it is sure to taste success in America where such bikes enjoy a cult following. The Bobber has set the cash registers ringing in the US, outselling the Thruxton T120. As the Bobber is only available as a single-seater, the cruiser might turn out to be the bike of choice for those who prefer taking a pillion.
