Valentino Rossi has been admitted to a Rimini hospital after a crash while training on a dirt bike at the Cross Park Cavallara. It was suspected that his injuries might have included a broken rib or a shoulder injury, but an official statement by Yamaha claims otherwise.
The official statement says that Rossi has sustained mild thoracic and abdominal trauma. Also, no fractures have been detected anywhere, and "no serious traumatic pathologies were found". Another official statement will be issued after he has spent the night in the hospital under observation, and we should know then if the 38 year old will participate in this weekend's MotoGP race at Mugello, which also happens to be his home race. If he isn't able to participate, it will certainly be a blow to his chase for a tenth world championship - a championship that he led until the previous race at Le Mans, where he crashed out of the lead on the final lap.
