We're drawing close to the end of 'silly season' - that time when the riders play musical chairs with the available seats in MotoGP. Two notable changes this past week have been that of Jack Miller, who has accepted the offer from Pramac Ducati. He will replace Scott Redding in the team. Miller was awaiting an offer from either HRC or the Marc VDS team, but a point of concern was that some of his crew were contracted directly to HRC (quite like Cal Crutchlow's current contract). However, when no word was forthcoming from either party, Miller made his decision.
Aprilia, meanwhile, have been looking for a rider to replace Sam Lowes after a string of sub-par results. However, Lowes' side of the story is one that tells of him drawing the short straw right at the beginning. The team was looking to replace him before the start of the season itself, and only now in the second half of the season has he been receiving equipment on par with teammate Aleix Espargaro. Scott Redding has accepted the offer from Aprilia. Where this leaves Lowes is uncertain - there is a seat available at the Marc VDS Honda team, but will they want to bet on a rookie with less than stellar results?
