The 2018 Yamaha R3 was spotted testing in Indonesia lately, although the bike seemed to have no major cosmetic changes. Internationally, the bike received a couple of new paint schemes and graphics and it would feature on this bike when it comes to India.
The test mules also featured conventional telescopic forks similar to the outgoing model. This is contrary to the speculations that the updated model would use inverted forks instead. Although it is not clear from the spy images, we expect the YZF-R3 to get ABS, and to come on par with the recently launched Benelli 302R. The R3 sports a 300cc parallel-twin engine that produces 41bhp and 29Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Yamaha launched the R3 back in 2015 and it was discontinued in March 2017 due to the automotive industry's switch to BS4 emission norms. We can expect to see the R3 back on Indian shores during the 2018 Auto Expo with a BS4 compliant engine. The bike would compete with the Benelli 302R, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the highly anticipated TVS Apache 310 R.
