Turbocharged Suzuki Hayabusa likely to debut next year

The year 2019 is when Suzuki will celebrate 20 years of Hayabusa. It is also when the world might see a brand new Hayabusa, a turbocharged one. 

According to a report by Asphalt & Rubber, Suzuki will showcase the new turbocharged Hayabusa as a 2019 model sometime next year. The Japanese manufacturer had showcased a turbocharged motorcycle in the form the Recursion Concept a few years ago. This concept was powered by a 588cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine. It is likely that Suzuki will be borrowing a lot of tech from this concept for its flagship motorcycle. 

Interestingly, there’s a 2018 Hayabusa model as well that was revealed via CARB filings. This model doesn’t have any changes and resembles the same 2017 model. There’s a high chance of this model making its way to the market in the next few months and doing some business for the company till the rumoured turbocharge model is ready to hit the production line. Turbocharging isn’t new for Suzuki. They have been doing this since many years now in the aftermarket arena. In fact, it had a turbocharged motorcycle, the XN85 on sale in the early 80s. 

We’re quite excited to see how this turbocharged motorcycle turns out. The supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2R changed the motorcycling scene with its 300bhp power figure. Will Suzuki be able to do the same? Only time will tell.
