Ducati has teased us with the name of its V4 engine and it is to be called the Desmosedici Stradale. The use of the name Stradale signifies that it is a road-going version of the Desmosedici MotoGP bike.
The Desmosedici Stradale has its origins in the engine used in the MotoGP bike which also uses a 90-degree V4 with desmodromic valves. The engine could be a hybrid design and use technology from the V-twin Superleggera. The firing order is said to be unique and could be something between a V-twin and a V4.
The Italian manufacturer will unveil the engine on 7 September ahead of the MotoGP event at Misano with all technical specifications. The Desmosedici Stradale will not only power Ducati’s superbikes but also those bikes that require high-power outputs.
Ducati’s V4 superbike would be unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan this November and we expect the bike to arrive in India a year after it is launched globally.
