Sherco TVS Rally riders Joan Pedrero Garcia and Adrien Metge have scored the first two spots in the 2017 PanAfrica Rally. Indian riders CS Santosh and Aravind KP also put up a commendable performance, finishing 9th and 12th respectively.
Joan and Adrien dominated the rally right from the first stage, and had a close fight for the top spot. The two bikes even collided at one point and Adrien just managed to garner a lead of 2 minutes in the initial stages of the rally. However, Joan eventually caught up with him and finished 1 minute 40 seconds ahead of this team mate. The third Serco TVS rider, Aravind KP, also made a couple of appearances in the top 10, but the 35 minute penalty in stage 4 eventually saw him finish 12th. Hero Speedbrain rider, Joaquim Rodrigues, finished seventh while his team mate CS Santosh finished 9th. Oriol Mena Valdearcos, the third Hero Speedbrain rider, finished 18th.
The PanAfrica Rally is an endurance race conducted over a prologue stage and five competitive stages, in Morocco and sections of Sahara desert. This year marked the 14th edition of this rally, and witnessed participation of 29 riders from Spain, Italy, Portugal as well as India. With the PanAfrica rally wrapped up, Sherco TVS Rally team will now move on to participate in the OiLibya Rally of Morocco, scheduled for 4 - 10 October.
