Triumph has expanded its modern classic range with the launch of the new Bonneville Speedmaster. Reviving the moniker after nine years, the new Bonneville Speedmaster is based on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber. However, it gets a rear subframe to make it more practical. The Bonneville Speedmaster is built on the Bobber chassis and gets low-slung styling like traditional American cruisers from the late 1950s.
The classic round headlamp, sweptback handlebars, sculpted fuel tank and the slant-cut exhaust give the Speedmaster an elegant look.
While the Bonneville Bobber is strictly a single-seater, the Speedmaster is for those who prefer taking a pillion and saddlebags along.
At the heart of the Speedmaster is the high-torque 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, mated to a six-speed transmission.
The Bonneville Speedmaster gets the same mid-range-enhancing intake and exhaust tuning as the Bobber, and delivers 76bhp and 105Nm of torque.
The instrumentation consists of a round analogue speedometer with an integrated digital display. Rider aids include riding modes, cruise control, traction control and ABS.
Optional accessories include windscreen, saddlebags, custom handlebars, performance exhaust and leather seats among others.
Customisation forms an important part of the Bonneville Speedmaster’s appeal, and Triumph is also offering two factory-customised Inspiration kits.
