Yamaha has unveiled the Niken, a three wheeled motorcycle, based on the MT-09.
The motorcycle which looks like a Decepticon from the Transformer movie series uses a retuned version of the 900cc in-line three cylinder engine from the MT-09. This engine produces 113bhp and 87Nm of torque in the streetfighter, although Yamaha hasn’t revealed the Niken’s power output yet.
The Niken is 2,150mm long and 1,250mm high with a width of 885mm. The reason for this massive width is the front end of the motorcycle; it consists of two 15-inch wheels with two inverted forks on each side, connected to a central hub. This setup should provide better grip during leans and braking. Each wheel gets a single disc with monoblock radial calipers.
While the Niken will go on sale in 2018, it seems too radical for a market like India.
