Ducati’s halo adventure tourer, the Multistrada has received an overhaul for 2018. The motorcycle benefits from a bigger engine, revisions to the chassis as well as a new moniker – Multistrada 1260. The motorcycle made its maiden public appearance at the EICMA Show in Italy. Here is a photo gallery of the new Multistrada 1260 from the exhibition floor –
The Multistrada 1260 features the same design with minor revisions to the fairing and a new LED headlamp setup.
To improve the handling, the trellis frame was revised with an increased steering angle from 24 to 25 degrees. The swingarm is 48mm longer.
The Multistrada 1260 is available in four versions with different levels of equipment - standard, S, S D-Air and the Pikes Peak edition.
The Multistrada 1260 S and Pikes Peak feature a 5-inch full-colour TFT screen, while the base model gets a LCD display.
The Pikes Peak edition benefits from forged aluminium wheels, Termignoni exhaust and manually adjustable Ohlins suspension at the front and the rear.
The displacement has also gone up from 1198cc to 1262cc. The L-twin Testastretta DVT engine has been borrowed from the XDiavel.
Despite the increase in displacement, the Multistrada 1260 the output is marginally lower at 156bhp and 96Nm of torque.
Nevertheless, it has a better torque spread in the mid-range. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with bi-directional quickshifter.
The rider aids include – cornering ABS, eight-level wheelie control, eight-level traction control, vehicle hold control for uphill starts, and cruise control.
