The Christmas Wishlist

It’s that time of the year again, when Delhi drivers get into trainwrecks on the road on foggy mornings, and Mumbai people remove their jackets from the back of the cupboard for the three days they’ll need them. Oh, and baby Jesus is nearly here! Here, then, is what we’re hoping Santa puts into our stockings this year. And remember Santa, coal won’t do, it isn’t environmentally friendly.

Neil

Remember the incident at the 2015 Australian MotoGP Grand Prix when Andrea Iannone ran into a bird? He wore his AGV Corsa the next year in Philip Island with a hilarious representation in memory of ‘Gavin the Seagull’. I wish I could have that helmet for Christmas because it not only is an absolute eye-catcher but also belongs to Andrea Iannone. The man is nicknamed ‘The Maniac’ and it is not long before I’m given that title, thanks to the way I ride.

Kapil

I want a road to myself, so I don’t have to wait for people to move out of my frame until I get that perfect shot. A couple of corners would be great, too. The bikers can try getting their knee down, and the car guys can get it sideways. A little bit of drama goes a long way, as you already know.

Vikrant

It's been too long. And I have been too patient. So much so that I even bought a used 390 Duke to keep me sane. But not anymore. Christmas is here and I WANT the 390 Enduro now!

Dear Santa, I don't care about the lack of colour options, or an uncomfortable seat, or even the odd exhaust note - typical of KTM India products. But I want that 390 powerhouse in a light, long travel, hardy and slim chassis.

And because I have been such a good boy this year - I went to work, attended PTA meets, and motorcycled more than the year before - I should have one now! I have even invested in a really tall tree this year, so the bike could fit under.

Hey Santa!

Christmas is almost here and just like every year, I have a new gift request but this time, it’s different. Actually, it’s not! This year too, I need a motorcycle. But it’s little different from the rest. This one is red which matches your outfit. It’s an adventure bike. So I’ll just be a call away if you need to deliver gifts to some inaccessible place that your sleigh can’t reach. Plus, it has an automatic gearbox, so even you can ride it. So you see, this gift is beneficial for you as well. So why not drop in soon with the Honda Africa Twin? I promise to give you the first ride!

Ranjan

The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is too expensive and I am tired of waiting for the KTM 390 Adventure. Chances are, that I might not even be physically capable of riding off-road by the time it actually goes on sale in India. So what I want from Santa this Christmas, is a mint Hero Impulse with 0 kilometres on the odometer. I also want a free-flow ‘braap’ exhaust and a box full of spares given that finding spares for the Impulse is as rare as finding a unicorn (the winged horse, not the Honda). And while we are at it, throw in a mint Karizma 223cc powertrain and Mohammed bhai to set the engine up.

Omkar

Dear Santa,

I have been a good boy this year. I have stopped at red lights, not ridden like a maniac and haven't even trolled posers (at least 90 per cent of the time). I think I am already in an early mid-life crisis and a puny little RSV4 FW would be welcome. I swear I will not showboat, click random selfies and post them with philosophical quotes. If it’s too harsh for you to ride down to my home, the Triumph Street Triple RS would be just great. I am even ordering Klims to complete my riding gear. Please Santa, remember, good boys are rare these days!

Charles

Hi, Santa. All I want this year is a little dirt. No, really. I’ve got the Impulse, I went to Big Rock to learn the basics of dirt riding, but there is no real place for me to practice. The beach is great, but all that salt in the air and sand is wreaking havoc on my poor Impulse’s metal parts.  If that dirt track could be near home, that’d be great – I could pop over for a few laps when I have a little time. And little by little, I could get more air and get the slides to look lairy, even in Kapil’s photos!

Ivana

Hey Santa,

It’s been a while. I just want you to know that I have been a good girl all year long- I even went to the church every month. The only thing I wasn’t good at was saving money. Reason why I need you to sneak in through the chimney and put a little something in my sock. And that little something is a Triumph Thunderbird Storm. It’s going to be my first bike and I promise I’ll be really good to it. Last year I wanted a real fancy car but I assumed it to be out of your budget so this year I am more considerate. Hope to see you soon.

What do you wish for this Christmas? Do let us know on our Facebook page or through our Twitter feed. Let’s hope Santa manages to deliver it all at a single go!
