Harley Davidson patents 48X and Pan America model names

Harley-Davidson has filed patents for the names for its upcoming models- the 48X and the Pan America.

The patents have been filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for use with “motorcycles and structural parts therefor.” This comes just a week after it patented the name ‘Harley-Davidson Bronx’ with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Although no details have been revealed, going by the names we can expect the 48X to be based on the standard Forty-Eight. While the Forty Eight uses a 1202cc engine, reports suggest that the 48X will get the 749cc Revolution X engine. 

Meanwhile the Pan America could be a traditional touring motorcycle complete with a ‘batwing’ fairing, top box, panniers and Boom! Box infotainment system. The Pan America could be powered by the 1745cc Milwaukee 107 engine that produces 150Nm of torque like the other motorcycles from Harley Davidson’s touring range.
