Okinawa has showcased a new prototype at the 2018 Auto Expo, called the Oki 100. Featuring a Li-ion battery, the company claims that the Oki 100 is capable of matching the performance of conventional petrol-powered commuter bikes.
Okinawa claims that the new Li-ion battery is the key behind Oki 100's performance. It powers a 2.5kW motor which can propel the Oki 100 to 100kmph. Besides, the battery can be charged to run for 150 kilometres in just two hours. This new battery will eventually be introduced in the company's other two offerings - the Praise and the Ridge.
Okinawa says that the prototype Oki 100 is still in the early stages of development, although the production version should be ready by the end of this year. The performance and quick charging feature should offer some peace of mind for customers who so far have been vary of electric vehicles.
