While the Xpulse had made its debut at the 2017 EICMA Show in Italy, the company had stopped short of revealing the specifications. Of course, they were waiting for the biggest Indian platform for that. The 2018 Auto Expo witnessed the unveiling of the pre-production form of the Xpulse 200. Here is a photo gallery of the motorcycle straight from the exhibition floor -
The Xpulse 200 is a successor to the Impulse and carries all the traditional adventure styling cues like a tall stance, narrow profile and minimalistic bodywork.
Components like the upswept exhaust, removable front and rear fenders, clawed footpegs, bash plate, chain guard and hand guards are aimed at improving its off-roading capabilities.
The upright seating position, tail rack for luggage, powerful headlamp with LEDs and long one-piece seat should strike a chord with touring enthusiasts.
This is the first time Hero has gone for a fully-digital instrument cluster. A transparent windscreen on top of the headlamp shields the cluster.
As per our predictions, the Xpulse 200 gets the 200cc engine from the Xtreme 200R, albeit with a fuel injection system in place of the carburettor.
The air-cooled engine produces 18.4bhp and 17.1Nm of torque, and is mated to a five-speed transmission.
The Xpulse 200 rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels with dual-sport Metzler tyres. It has 190mm travel at the front and 170mm at the rear travel.
The brake setup consists of disc units at the front and rear. The ABS is a single-channel system.
